JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — It's the type of sight that you'll rarely find anywhere else but the Sunshine State.
Drivers cruising down I-95 through Jacksonville's Southside over the weekend might have caught a glimpse of a barefoot man, widely known as the "Blue Collar Brawler," wrestling a huge gator on the side of the highway.
"Nope, your eyes weren't playing tricks on you. That really happened," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post sharing a video of the action.
The sheriff's office said deputies, along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, joined forces with the licensed Florida alligator trapper and "gator-wrangling legend" to help get the reptile off the road and keep everyone safe.
The video showed him using a pole to catch the gator and wrestle it to the side of the road, where he climbed on top of the massive reptile and restrained its jaw. He then placed the alligator in the back of a truck to be taken away from the busy highway.
All of that occurred while he was barefoot on the hot cement and dressed head-to-toe in camo.
"Only in Florida," the sheriff's office wrote.
