(WJW) -- Two parents in Virginia have taken the internet by storm, introducing their six children to the world -- who all have essentially the same name.
In a TikTok video that's received hundreds of thousands of views, Carolyn Cousin worked to clear up the confusion of her family's names. She explained her first child, a girl, was supposed to be their only one, so they named her Camryn after dad. Then a little boy came along and they decided to name him Cameron Jr. From there, as they told TODAY.com they "just kept going," but with little changes to the spellings.
Cousin and Cameron Butts chose to name their kids variations of the name Cameron, as seen below:
- Camryn, 9
- Cameron Jr., 8
- Camreon, 6
- Carmyn, 4
- Cam’Ron, 2
- Camarion, 7 months
One TikTok commenter wrote: “There are enough names in this world that no one in the same family should have to share one with their siblings. This should be illegal.”
But Cousin said she said she doesn't understand the criticism and that her kids say they love their names. In a TikTok video back in July, Cousin explained the various differences between the names, saying that, in her opinion, they "all align with each other."
“When I use their full names, they know exactly who I’m talking to,” Cousin told Today.com. "Somehow, it just works out!" Cousin also told People, in an exclusive interview, that her three oldest kids are at the same school and get called "the Cams," when they're called for pick-up.
To People, Cousin added: "[Despite] all the backlash we got on social media, our kids think it’s pretty cool."
